The ‘new normal’?

My blog has reminded me that it’s been 3 months since I last posted – I can’t believe it … where has the time gone? I think time has flown because we have been busy – getting back to something like normal life. I had a huge birthday (numbers are irrelevant!) but the celebration was fabulous in spite of still being in partial lockdown at the time. We managed a very special lunch near Lac Leman and a couple of fab days in Annecy, biking our way around the lake. Subsequently, a big travel to UK as soon as quarantine was lifted. I spent 4 wonderful weeks seeing friends and family – it truly was a real treat to spend quality time with everyone. Absence definitely makes the heart grow fonder! We were shocked at how quiet London was – Gloucester Road was deserted with restaurants and bars still shut – the aftermath of a pandemic still very much in evidence.

Back in France we were thrilled to see something of our lovely neighbours who spent August at their chalet; and more of London friends spending time in the Alps. More glorious hikes, swimming in local lakes, plenty of Bar BQ’s (Chris’s skills much improved with all the practice over the summer!) and generally lots of our more usual social. My gardening has finally paid dividends – tomatoes, cucumbers, courgette, squash, onions and apples – Alan Titchmarsh eat your heart out! V excited that the CD of Gareth Malone’s Great British Home Chorus came through – brilliant and good to know that I contributed. When we finally settle in one place, I will be joining a choir!

Birthday celebrations!
Cycling around Lake Annecy
Leaving France – only 6 cars on the car ferry – one of the first ferries to UK post lock down
Latest project … a fire pit!
Glorious hiking – typical Seytroux summer
