Maiden voyage in Yacht Mistral

We have really started … up at 5.15am to leave Valencia en route for the Balearics. First stop will be Formentera – a tiny island south east of Ibiza 91 no away. A beautiful sunrise made up for the early start which was followed by our first challenge – having got the sails up for an hour or so, we decided to start the engine again. Mistral said no. All power lost. After searching for all possible causes, Chris turned the engine battery off and on again (tech answer to all problems) – huge relief to hear that engine fire into life. I have a feeling this will be the first of many learning opportunities!

  1. Oh, how I remember those maiden “shake down” cruises. Enjoy every minute. Already looks beautiful

  2. Lovely photo but it must have been a scared moment ,I think there will be lots more tails to tell over the next few years 😀xx⛵️

  3. Keep safe you two, and have a fantastic time. Lots of love xxx

  4. Looks great!

I’d get the electrics checked by a pro though. We had a total electrical failure in the Solent – very scary: no GPS (apart from phones), no instruments, and worse of all, warm beer!

  5. No albatross ……. it will be a wonderful voyage

  6. Stunning pic; have the most amazing time and sending lots of love x

  7. Looking at the anti-cyclone sitting over the Med you’ll be needing the engine! Love your positive attitude to ‘learning opportunities’! Have fun. Still stupidly windy in UK.
