Lake Titicaca – crossing the border from Peru and Bolivia

Today we left Peru – one last shot of the lake at 6am just before we headed off to Bolivia.

After crossing the border, we drove around the vast lake on the Bolivian shores to Copacabana to take a boat to see the Island of the Sun – the birthplace of the Inca Empire. Interesting that the town is only a few miles over the border but has a very different feel to the towns we visited in Peru.

On the island we were introduced to the local Shaman who made offerings to the sun, moon and earth (pachumama) on our behalf and then blessed us individually – a very special experience. The island was beautiful … another fabulous trip!
